Buying for an organization? Per-employee pricing and one company code for your whole team → For organizations

A short, practical course on working respectfully with transgender colleagues, told mostly by a trans woman describing her own experience rather than by a lawyer describing a policy.

It answers the questions people are usually too awkward to ask: which word to use, what the older terms mean and why they land badly, and what to do about pronouns. On terminology it is direct — “trans” is the umbrella term to use; transsexual and transvestite are older words more likely to cause offense, though the course is careful that people who found their own identity in those words should not be policed out of them. On pronouns it gives a usable practice rather than a rule: when a team introduces itself, everyone gives their name and their pronouns, so the norm is set by the people leading the meeting and nobody is singled out.

It also corrects the assumption most people hold — that transition means surgery. The course sets out four kinds of transition (social, legal, emotional or psychotherapeutic, and medical) and says the one with the greatest effect on a person’s life is the social one. It closes on the LGBTQ terms themselves, including what the Q covers.

Who it’s for: every employee — especially anyone who runs meetings or leads a team.

Common questions

Which words should I use?

The course is direct: trans is the umbrella term to use. It teaches that transsexual and transvestite are older terms, more likely to cause offense, though it is careful that people who found their own identity in those words should not be policed out of them. It states that terms like 'tranny' are never appropriate.

What do I do about pronouns?

The course gives a practice rather than a rule. When a team introduces itself, everyone gives their name and their pronouns. If the people leading the meeting do it, the norm is set by them and nobody is singled out.

Does transition mean surgery?

No, and correcting that assumption is one of the course's main points. It sets out four kinds of transition, social, legal, emotional or psychotherapeutic, and medical, and says the one with the greatest effect on a person's life is the social one.

Which of the ten courses does my organisation need?

Everyone takes the same starting point: Sexual Harassment (Employee). Anyone who supervises people adds the Supervisor Supplement on top of it — supervisors are held to a higher standard and that course is about what to do once you know. This one is for everyone, and especially anyone who runs meetings or leads a team. You do not have to work this out per person: when your people join with your company code they give their work state and say whether they supervise anyone, and the rules assign what each of them owes from that.

Can I buy this for my whole team, and do I assign it person by person?

You can buy it for a team: set the number of seats on this page before adding to cart. And no, you do not assign it person by person — that is not how the platform works. Your people join with your company code, give their work state and city and say whether they supervise anyone, and the training rules decide what each of them owes from that — which is how a multi-state employer gets the right course to the right person without anyone maintaining a list. You hand out one code instead of picking names off a list. Seats are issued for 12 months.

Who is it for, and how is it structured?

Every employee, and especially anyone who runs meetings or leads a team. 4 video chapters with 3 knowledge checks, told largely by a trans woman describing her own experience. Progress saves as you go and a certificate is issued on completion.
